Philosophy
Owning the farm has been a revelation and an education. It’s a revelation because finding new species is a delight. Because reimagining farm management, then seeing positive environmental results matters. It’s an education because we’ve learned about the hard choices for pest and invasive management. We’ve learned about the need to protect the land by closing it off to the public. We’ve learned about how sometimes trees need to be removed to improve the environment, and sometimes areas are burned so that native grasses can come back.
The farm was an investment that turned into something much bigger. We feel the responsibility to protect it, and at the same time, we love it.
Our philosophy is to love, protect and improve the land, the quality of water and wildlife through smart and inventive management, for now and for the future.
