Ganoderma Applanatum
Journalist Doug Bierend spent five years exploring fungi and the emerging subcultures that have formed around them for his new book, In Search of Mycotopia: Citizen Science, Fungi Fanatics, and the Untapped Potential of Mushrooms. The many Ganoderma Applanatum benefits and uses make this mushroom very popular. Ganoderma Applanatum medicinal uses are plentiful because of its potent anti-tumor, antibacterial and anti-fibrotic properties. Artists create Ganoderma Applanatum art by scratching or rubbing the mushroom’s fresh white pore surface with a sharp instrument. This exposes the dark brown tissue under the pores, resulting in visible lines and shading that become permanent once the fungus is dried. Other Ganoderma Applanatum buyers use it for cooking, because of its rich mushroom flavor. One Ganoderma Applanatum look-alikes is the Ganoderma Brownii, but it has a thicker, darker flesh.
